Thanks for this post. I've been using the paid Visible app with the H10 strap around my ankle for about 2 months. I am seeing some interesting patterns. Like if I'm in PEM my hr rate runs 10 to 20 points higher than on a better day doing the everyday things I can do (my ME has been moderate - low moderate) and it stays 10+ points higher at rest, till I've rested my way out of PEM. I can't afford to do the paid version more than a couple more months bu by then I should have a pretty good idea of where I'm at...

That makes sense. Once I saw my patterns and which activities caused the most heart rate rise, I stopped using the constant monitoring. I do have a watch that I can periodically check what is happening with my heart rate during an activity... my HR is definitely higher if I have been overdoing...

I use this and have on and off since it came out in beta version. I’ve found it has got better over time. But it still sometimes gets it wrong a bit, but it’s better than nothing definitely. I only use the free version, it’s too expensive for someone who doesn’t/ can’t work. It’s useful to map symptoms, and to see how my HRV varies. Sometimes it gets it wrong because I said I had a good nights sleep, which mostly happens when I’m so exhausted there is no other bodily choice. Needs a ‘sleep of the dead’ option. I like that you can add your own symptoms not just have top choose from a list.

Sleep of the dead option sounds like a good idea! 😉

You were clear; I just misunderstood. My apologies!! When I was trying to sign up, the app tried its best to get me to pay. I'll try again to see if I can access the free version.

I joined before there was a wearable device so didn't know it might be a challenge to just do the free part. If it turns out there is something specific to do for joining the free party, please let me knew and I will update the info.

Well. I sprung for the whole enchilada. But now I can't sign up, and apparently there is no customer service? Just FAQ.

The way I have reached them in the past is on the app (on my phone) is -

Go to profile (bottom right hand icon)

Click on Help and Feedback

Send message.

Hope that helps.

Oh, great! Hadn't thought of that... The problem is that they want me to use my phone, but I do not use my phone for email. I guess I could opt for texts, but my vision is lousy. Phone is small type...Anyway, thank you. I will try it!

I hope you can work it out. I think they understand we have challenges outside the "normal" customer and so far they've been very responsive (even to my dumb questions).

Oh, I can "out-dumb" you everytime!

Hmmmm... Two things (one because I a totally ignorant about tech): How does the app measure all of this? It seems like you'd have to have a wearable. Ergo, this is not free? We have to buy something from them? Two: I gather that it's not terribly accurate, in that it doesn't match the recorded data with how you actually feel... I've been crashed since Valentine's Day (not from anything I did). I had a creatinine blood draw (not sure if that's right; something like that to measure inflammation and likelihood of autoimmune disease) done during this period of time. The result was less than one with 10 being the top of the scale. So I have no inflammation? No autoimmune disease? There will be stuff like that which this gadget can't possibly know.

It was hard to explain so I may not have been clear but the part of this app that I'm talking about here is the free part. It uses the camera/flash to measure heart rate and heart rate variability by looking at the pulse in my finger. It can only be measured once a day.

There is a paid version that uses a wearable.

If you’re interested, I wrote an early review of the wearable in the fall: https://open.substack.com/pub/amythetonic/p/the-rodeo-086?r=o3zsi&utm_medium=ios
